Control / Freedom

When (and if) you make the decision to start a franchised business, you will sign a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) – a legal document that covers, in detail, everything you need to know about the business model. This includes financial requirements, your obligations as the franchisee, obligations of the franchisor, your service territory, authorized vendors (which we talk more about below), contacts, etc.

With all of that said, and as you likely already know, when you invest in a franchise it is your business, however there are certain guidelines and rules that you are expected to follow. These guidelines are put in place to ensure brand consistency and standards. After all, you’re buying into an existing, reputable brand and the franchisor wants to make sure it stays that way!
