Weed Man franchise owner Brandon Burns had a successful career as a Golf Course Superintendent. He enjoyed his job but wanted more flexibility, less worry, an asset for retirement, and better work/life balance. He's found all of that and more with Weed Man:

Are you a current or former golf course superintendent looking to make an exciting career change? If so, we want to hear from you.
At Weed Man, we understand that golf facilities are complex business operations. In addition to requiring advanced knowledge of turf grass management, golf course superintendents must obtain formal education in business administration, finance, human resources, and public relations. The type of in-depth education, training, and hands-on industry experience required to run a successful golf course make superintendents an excellent fit for Weed Man franchise ownership.

How has owning a Weed Man franchise changed the course of your future plans? Having an asset for retirement. Having some more freedom with my life is definitely a big thing. It’s a lot less stressful. I can’t express how much happier I am now.
How does golf course management fit well with the Weed Man concept? Have you found that the skill set that you have has been beneficial to what you’re doing now? Yes, absolutely. It definitely helps not only knowing the grass side of things per se, but the different management practices you learn on the golf course. Sometimes you’re dealing with a membership – you can kind of relate it to dealing with customers. Anything on the golf course you understand what hard work is and what you have to do to get a good result, and at the end of the day that is what we’re striving for – to make happy customers and create happy lawns.
What do you personally like about franchising? The support is enormous. That would be the best thing that I have seen by far. There’s so many things – on the business side, marketing – every little thing, I guess. If you have a question on it you can ask your sub franchisor or corporate. The amount of care that’s out there and the number of people that want to see you succeed is by far my favorite. What advice do you have for people who might be looking to start their own Weed Man franchise? I would say reach out to other franchisees that are part of the Weed Man family. They’re wonderful to talk to – there isn’t a bad soul in the group. It doesn’t hurt to go shadow for a day or two and see what it’s all about.
