Weed Man Twin Cities: Attracting and Managing Millennials

Lawn & Landscape

Millennial Weed Man Twin Cities owner, Steve Sartorious, has plenty of experience with attracting and managing Millennials; and having won Weed Man’s 2015 Emerging Leaders award, he was asked to shine some light on his know-how for Lawn & Landscape.

We all know it – Millennials are the future of the workforce. To stay relevant in today’s lawn and landscape industry means staying current; and ‘80s and ‘90s babies are the ones who are successful at creating an online presence that customers will remember. Millennials are tech-savvy enough to keep up with the times, know the ins and outs of the ever-changing social media spaces and also bring creative ideas to the table. Their go-getter attitudes and experience on the Internet can be the winning ticket for making a lasting impression over a company’s competitors.

When recruiting Millennials, “it’s important to keep in mind that [they] are not just looking for a job to make money, but a secure, meaningful and fulfilling career. Make sure a potential career path with the company is clearly defined and outlined for all applicants so they can see that your organization wants them for the long run,” Steve writes. “Bluntly state what makes your company culture special and make it extremely evident for Millennials. Millennials want to be a part of a company with a legacy and an encouraging work environment that shows its appreciation.”

Attracting the right Millennial employees can be a tricky task, but once you find them and manage them, offering them a career and not just a job, incentives and collaboration, you can expect your business to sky-rocket to an entirely new level.
